Emergent Technology 2

I was always interested in Skype but didn't know how to use it so I stayed away from it. I was glad we had to do this project because my parents live in Atlanta and I don't get to see them as much as I would like. My three siblings are growing up so fast but with this technology I am able to see them rather just hear their voices. To my surprise Skype was really easy to use. I asked my best friend what her Skype name was because I knew she always was on and looked her up. We used the video chat cause she is at school an hour away. It was so amazing. I played around with it until I learned the basics of everything. I learned that you can have Skype through your cell phone. My friend showed me how to screen share. That was so cool. Technology has come a long way. I could see how a teacher could use this with parents and even their students. I remember when I was in grade school my class had a big television and somehow we would chat with people over in Japan. That experience was awesome. Skype would be much faster. If a parent is out of town and I need to have a parent teacher conference with them Skype would be the perfect way to accomplish the goal.

  1. Great post, Shentoia! I also had heard all about Skype but never gave in and used it. I was really excited to find out that my friend who lives in Seattle has it and that we were able to chat. I also think it's a great resource for teachers. I think it's great for parent-teacher conferences! Good job on your post!
